HOW THE MOB STARTED

On June 25, 1999 Beaumont Athletes from all years gathered at the Missouri Athletic Club to pay tribute to Coach Tom Stanton on his 95th birthday. Coach Stanton was head basketball coach at Beaumont from 1939-1970 and head football coach from 1946-1948. His basketball career record was 793 wins and 191 losses for 80.6%. He coached 5 Missouri State Championship teams, 11 St. Louis Public High School Championships teams and 5 Normandy Christmas Tournament Championship teams. He has received 5 Hall of Fame Awards. Coach Stanton was to us, next only to our own fathers, the most influential man in our life. So it was no wonder that a huge turnout was on hand on that day.
Not only did we get to honor our old coach but we renewed old friendships. For most of us it was the first time we had seen each other since high school. Several of us from the 40s and 50s got together the next week for lunch to review the years since we left high school and had last seen each other. We have since been getting together once a month for lunch. The group has been growing in numbers, but unfortunately we have lost contact with many through the years. We hope this web page will reach out and make contact with many more of our old high school teammates and they too will join us for lunch to "Relive Those Glory Days of the Past". Once a "BLUE JACKET" always a "BLUE JACKET"
